OpenAI has announced the release of its new artificial intelligence model, Sora, designed to create videos from text. This latest innovation is now available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, marking a significant expansion in the company’s multimodal AI technology offerings.
The Microsoft-backed AI innovator, which sparked a generative AI revolution with its ChatGPT launch in November 2022, aims to compete directly with similar text-to-video tools from industry leaders such as Meta, Alphabet’s Google, and Stability AI’s Stable Video Diffusion.
Sora‘s Features and Accessibility
Initially introduced in February and tested by safety testers, Sora, now branded as Sora Turbo, offers robust capabilities without additional costs for ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers. This advanced AI model allows users to generate high-quality videos up to 1080p resolution and 20 seconds long, available in widescreen, vertical, or square formats.
OpenAI Sora‘s Price
OpenAI is developing tailored pricing plans for different user types, which it expects to roll out early next year to accommodate the diverse needs of its expanding user base.
Due to regulatory constraints, Sora will not be available in EU countries, Switzerland, and the UK, but it remains accessible in other regions where ChatGPT operates.

In response to potential misuse, OpenAI has implemented strict controls to block the creation and upload of harmful content, including child sexual abuse materials and sexual deepfakes, using Sora. Initially, uploads involving people will be restricted, but the company plans to broaden access as it enhances its deepfake mitigation strategies.
