Snoop Dogg has joined NBC’s commentary team for the Olympic track and field events, bringing his unique humour to the broadcasts. Recently, in Eugene, Oregon, he captivated audiences with his commentary during a steeplechase race, delivering lively and humorous insights.

The rapper, known for his musical and cultural influence, aims to make the Paris 2024 Olympic Games more accessible and engaging. His commentary, full of vivid and playful remarks, has already resonated with viewers. For example, he excitedly described the competitors during the race: “Oh, get up out of there. Oh, they’re coming after him. Seven deep. Like horses.”

Snoop Dogg’s involvement is part of NBC’s strategy to attract a broader, younger audience to the Olympics. This approach appears successful, as evidenced by Sunday’s prime-time viewership of 5.2 million, the highest for athletics in 12 years.

His participation also highlights his versatility and willingness to explore new realms beyond music. The rapper’s charismatic and engaging style provides a fresh alternative to traditional sports commentary.

NBC’s team for the Paris Olympics will also include celebrities like Kelly Clarkson, Leslie Jones, Peyton Manning, Jimmy Fallon, and Colin Jost, who will cover Olympic surfing in Tahiti. With such a diverse and dynamic group, the Paris 2024 Olympics promises to be an entertaining event for all viewers.
