The Sindh government has announced public holidays for the Christian community in connection with Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day, both observed on December 25.
According to an official notification, December 25 will be observed as a public holiday across Sindh. The holiday applies to all government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the provincial government.
The notification clarified that employees engaged in essential services will remain exempt from the closure to ensure uninterrupted public operations.
In addition to the public holiday, the Sindh government has declared a partial holiday on December 26 for Christian employees only. This measure aims to allow extended religious observance for the Christian community following Christmas celebrations.

Copies of the notification have been circulated to relevant federal and provincial authorities for information and implementation. These include the Establishment Division, the Board of Revenue, Sindh, the Sindh High Court, the Accountant General, Sindh, the police authorities, administrative secretaries, commissioners, and deputy commissioners.
The latest announcement follows similar steps taken earlier this year to recognise minority festivals. In October, the Sindh government declared October 20 and 21 as holidays for Hindu employees to mark the festival of Diwali. A separate notification, issued at the specified time, stated that the holidays applied only to Hindu staff working in government, semi-government, autonomous, and municipal institutions.
