Sindh MD forecasts more rain in Karachi

The Sindh Meteorological Department has forecasted more rain in Karachi.

On Tuesday rain at least five people were killed in different rain-related incidents following a brief, but highly sought-after spell of rain in Karachi.

People in Karachi may face issues of power outage and disruption to travel in the days to come while fasting in Ramazan.

The industrial hub of the country plunged under rainwater and later into darkness after monsoon rain hit parts of Karachi, disrupting power supply in many areas. A major portion of the city was still without power supply even after 12 hours.

Some 677 electricity feeders tripped in Karachi as soon as it started drizzling on Tuesday leaving several areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad and Federal B. Area without power supply for hours.

Residents of some areas in Defence, Kaneez Fatima Colony, Korangi, Malir, Landhi, Lyari and Shah Faisal Colony were also forced to face power outage during sehri.

Many localities were still without power supply even after, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad directed the concerned officials at K-Electric to restore supply in the affected areas at the earliest after taking notice of the issue.

The city is also feared to face water shortage after a supply line at the Dhabeji Pumping Station exploded due to sudden power disruption.

Many high-traffic roads and lanes in Karachi completely submerged in water due to poor drainage system in the city.
