Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori revealed plans for a spectacular fireworks show at the Governor House to welcome the new year. To ensure public access, he mentioned that all five gates of the Governor House would be open to visitors.
“We aim to celebrate the new year collectively,” Governor Tessori expressed, highlighting the significance of unity in celebration.
The event will showcase a 40-minute fireworks display, anticipated to set an international record. Governor Tessori expressed his hopes for 2024, wishing for peace, security, stability, economic growth, and welfare for the people of Pakistan.

The fireworks display, scheduled for December 31, is designed to be a record-setting spectacle that will captivate attendees from Karachi and beyond.
In preparation, the Karachi city administration enacted section 144 for two days to ensure safety during the New Year’s Eve festivities. Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hasan Naqvi, released a notification following recommendations from the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South Zone Karachi.
The mandate prohibits possessing, displaying, and using weapons, including aerial firing and firecrackers. Enforcement of Section 144 will be stringent on 31 December and 1 January, with severe penalties for any infringements.
