The murder of Dr. Shahid Siddique, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and owner of a private hospital, has been linked to his son, Qayyum Shahid.
According to Lahore police sources, the Organized Crime Unit of Iqbal Town arrested Qayyum Shahid based on compelling evidence suggesting his involvement in the crime.
Investigations reveal that the motive behind the murder stemmed from Qayyum’s desire to marry a person of his choosing, a decision allegedly obstructed by his father. In pursuit of this, Qayyum is accused of orchestrating an elaborate plan to eliminate his father, including arranging for his surveillance and managing the subsequent funeral—where he was observed crying profusely.
This was not the first act of violence against Dr. Siddique by his son, as an earlier attempt on his life six months prior, reportedly orchestrated by Qayyum, came to light during the investigation. Collaborating with a close friend, who has also been arrested, Qayyum allegedly hired a hitman in January for a sum of 5 million rupees, with another 20 million rupees planned for a subsequent assault.

Further police reports disclosed that on the day of the murder, an Alto car with Qayyum inside was seen monitoring Dr. Siddique from 9:50 AM. The suspicious vehicle continued tailoring him after Dr. Siddique withdrew money from a bank to distribute among needy individuals.
Adding to the case’s complexity, it was revealed that Qayyum had demanded a car worth 130 million rupees to gift to his girlfriend. Although initially reluctant, Dr. Siddique eventually booked the car as a birthday surprise for his son. Tragically, Dr. Siddique was murdered before the birthday could be celebrated, deepening the intrigue and horror surrounding this familial betrayal.
