The issue of fake degrees among senior officials in Sindh’s public and semi-public institutions is escalating, with fresh revelations surfacing.
Recent investigations have uncovered that Shiraz Kaka, Deputy Director of the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA), holds a fraudulent degree.
Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, confirmed the falsity of Kaka’s credentials. Following this revelation, the HDA has issued orders for his immediate removal. Kaka, who secured his position at the HDA in 2007 with this fake degree, has played significant roles within the institution.

After issuing a notice, the Sindh Anti-Corruption Department began a thorough investigation and ordered Kaka to return the official vehicle he was provided.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of credential fraud in the region. In 2018, the discovery of questionable domiciles among 55 officers in Kashmore came to light, and investigations found that 187 police officers had been falsely recruited.
Following these incidents, the Public Accounts Committee of Sindh mandated a comprehensive investigation under the leadership of IG Sindh, indicating a systematic approach to rectifying these breaches of trust.
