Shehbaz Sharif, the former prime minister, is set to depart for London today to hold talks with Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N’s top leader, as confirmed by PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb. Through a post on X (previously called Twitter), Aurangzeb noted that Shehbaz would engage in discussions with Nawaz during his London stay.
Amidst rumours that Nawaz Sharif could be returning to Pakistan, no official statement has been issued by the party. Nevertheless, internal sources from the party suggest a potential return in September 2023.
Other party leaders, Saif Ul Malook Khokhar and President Youth Wing Lahore Malik Faisal are also London-bound today. They’re expected to update Nawaz Sharif on the organizational framework in Punjab’s capital. Discussions on Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan are also anticipated, with the PML-N legal team in attendance.
Rana Sanaullah, a senior PML-N leader and ex-federal interior minister, previously expressed that their party received the assurances they needed for Nawaz Sharif’s comeback. He indicated that Sharif’s return would be timed post the official declaration of the general elections.
