Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Sunday’s landmark UN pact on climate change finance.
The UN COP27 session in Egypt ended Sunday with a fund to help vulnerable countries and nations cope with climate “loss and harm.”
Shehbaz Sharif tweeted that forming a “loss and damage” fund at COP27 is the “first key step” towards climate justice.
The premier also praised Senator Sherry Rehman and her staff.
“The loss & damage fund at the UN climate conference is the first key step toward climate justice,” Shehbaz tweeted.
Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman welcomed the accord, hoping it would assist developing nations in dealing with climate change destruction and rehabilitation.
Rehman tweeted that it took 30 years to build the loss and damage fund for 134 nations.
“We applaud today’s announcement and united text, which took many nights. It’s a step toward #climatejustice.”
