Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif rolled out portfolios for 24 newly inducted federal, state, and adviser ministers, ballooning his cabinet from 25 to 50 despite austerity pledges.

The Cabinet Division’s notification details the Shehbaz Sharif Cabinet overhaul, which was finalized after last week’s inductions. It spotlights fresh faces and a surprise Pervez Khattak twist.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry snags Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Pervaiz Malik takes Petroleum, and Shaza Fatima Khawaja helms Information Technology as federal ministers. State ministers Barrister Aqeel Malik (Law & Justice), Bilal Azhar Kayani (Railways), and Talal Chaudhry (Interior & Narcotics) also step up. Pervez Khattak, ex-Imran Khan ally and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM, joins as Interior Adviser, alongside Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah and Muhammad Ali, bumping advisers to seven.

The portfolios assigned to various federal ministers:

The Shehbaz Sharif Cabinet’s double-in-size raises eyebrows after Sharif’s cost-cutting rhetoric. Four new special assistants round out the roster, cementing a hefty team to tackle Pakistan’s woes. Khattak’s shift from PTI roots to Sharif’s inner circle adds intrigue.
