Senior Sindh Minister and PPP leader Sharjeel Inam Memon pledged unwavering resolve to oppose canal projects on the Indus River.
At a March 30, 2025 press conference, he declared, “I’ll fight this till my last breath.” Memon called for national unity during Eid ul Fitr, urging Pakistanis to set aside differences and bolster the country against its challenges.
His remarks follow recent terrorist bus attacks that claimed innocent lives. Praising the military and security forces’ sacrifices, Memon stressed the need for relentless protection efforts. He demanded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif clarify the government’s stance, saying, “We won’t allow canals on the Indus. The PM must cancel these projects by April 4.”
Targeting Critics and Defending Rights
Memon accused some critics of aligning with foreign agendas, specifically India’s RAW agency, and insisted dialogue is only possible with Pakistan’s true supporters. He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to media freedom, noting, “We’ve always championed journalists’ rights and will keep opposing unfair treatment.” He also slammed the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), rejecting laws that stifle press liberty or enable misinformation.
