Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has become the victim of a sophisticated cybercrime. A fully customised Range Rover, built specifically for the NBA legend at a cost of $180,000, was stolen during shipment before it ever reached him.
The vehicle was being transported from California to Louisiana by a Georgia-based company, FirstLine Trucking LLC. It was expected to arrive in Baton Rouge in time for an LSU football game, but vanished en route, prompting a multi-state investigation.
According to the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office, the theft occurred on October 20. Investigators believe it was an elaborate operation in which hackers compromised the trucking company’s digital systems.
The thieves used this access to pose as legitimate transporters and fraudulently pick up the luxury SUV. The case is now being treated as a major coordinated cybercrime.

“We do all his cars,” said Ahmad Abdelrahman, a spokesperson for Effortless Motors, the California custom shop that built the vehicle. “This time, transport claimed they were hacked and don’t know who picked up the vehicle.”
The stolen Range Rover was no ordinary vehicle. It was specially customised to accommodate O’Neal’s 7-foot-1 frame, featuring reinforced seating, a premium sound system, and other luxury details.

Authorities suspect the SUV changed hands multiple times after the theft, with its trail going cold near Atlanta. Investigators are now working with tracking and telecom companies to locate the vehicle. In the meantime, Effortless Motors has offered a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the recovery of the missing Range Rover, as the search continues.
