Shangla experienced a return of heavy rainfall on Sunday after a brief two-day break, with light snowfall recorded on the mountain peaks and highlands.
Rain began early in the morning, affecting the city and surrounding villages. The cold winds that followed intensified the freezing temperatures, sweeping the entire valley. At the same time, snowfall was observed on the upper mountain ranges, contributing to a significant temperature drop.
According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rain and snowfall are expected to continue in the coming days, keeping the region cold.
The light snowfall left the mountains surrounding the valley covered in a blanket of white, offering stunning views that tourists found particularly appealing.
It’s important to note that Shangla had been facing water shortages earlier this winter due to a severe drought and lack of snowfall. However, the torrential rainfall from last week has helped alleviate some of these issues.
Despite the improvements, experts caution that the lack of sufficient snowfall in hill stations like Shangla could lead to future challenges and threaten local livelihoods in the region.
