A photograph of Shaheen Afridi’s newborn son has captured the hearts of many on social media. Early this morning, Shaheen Afridi and his wife, Ansha Afridi, announced the arrival of their first child, a boy they named Ali Yar.
The event marks a momentous occasion for the family as former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi, Shaheen’s father-in-law, celebrates becoming a grandfather for the first time.
The Afridi family shared this joyful news across social media platforms, receiving an outpouring congratulations from fans and well-wishers globally. The photograph of Ali Yar has since gone viral, symbolizing a significant moment for this celebrated cricketing family.
Anticipating Shaheen Afridi’s child’s birth, Jason Gillespie, Pakistan’s Red Ball coach, suggested that Shaheen might not participate in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. In July, Gillespie explained, “Shaheen might skip the Bangladesh Test matches to be present at the birth of his child. We will offer him some rest if he stays with his wife during this important time.”
The two-match Test series is in Rawalpindi, with the first Test already in progress. Shaheen, a renowned left-arm fast bowler, became engaged to Shahid Afridi’s second eldest daughter, Ansha Shahid, in 2021. They officially married in a private ceremony on February 3, 2022, and celebrated extensively, including their Rukhsati in September 2023.
