Shah Mehmood Qureshi, a senior leader of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf party, has called for supporters of Imran Khan to remain calm and continue with peaceful protests in response to recent events.
Qureshi took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to urge PTI family workers, supporters, and the people of Pakistan to participate in peaceful protests against this unconstitutional behavior. He emphasized that no one should be allowed to violate the law without facing consequences.
The party’s leadership is currently in Islamabad, working diligently to meet with their Chairman, Imran Khan, to secure his release from what they consider an illegal abduction. Qureshi said
Qureshi further added that following Chairman Imran Khan’s detention, Ali Zaidi, another PTI member, was also apprehended. Meanwhile, protesters were met with indiscriminate gunfire, leading to fatalities. In addition, women, children, and older people faced further aggression through shelling and chemical water cannons.
Qureshi also reported that his offices in Multan were raided, with staff members suffering physical assaults.
Despite these challenges, Qureshi clarified that the party would not succumb to these oppressive forces. Instead, they would continue fighting for the vision of Jinnah’s Pakistan. The hashtag #ReleaseImranKhan accompanies Qureshi’s messages, highlighting the primary goal of their efforts and adding to the call for Imran Khan’s release.
