Security forces neutralized seven terrorists at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan. On April 16, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported detecting seven militants near Spinkai in Ghulam Khan. Surrounded and engaged, the group was eliminated after an intense firefight.
Additionally, a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was seized. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s persistent requests to the Taliban-led Afghan government for better border control. The military called on Afghanistan’s interim rulers to prevent terrorists from using their territory for attacks against Pakistan. The ISPR reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistani forces to protect its borders and combat terrorism.
Pakistan has repeatedly called on Afghan authorities to act against terrorists operating from their soil. Last month, an intelligence-led operation targeted the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) inside Afghanistan. The Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, known for multiple attacks in Pakistan, was responsible for an attack on March 16 that killed seven Pakistani soldiers.
The day before the briefing, the Pakistan Army’s top commanders reviewed threats from terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, highlighting the risk to regional security and interests like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
