Chief selector Haroon Rasheed said on Monday that the selection panel is keeping an eye on off-spinner Saeed Ajmal’s performance and is in touch with him.
Ajmal, who is making a comeback to competitive cricket with a re-moulded action recently returned with impressive figures of 8/100 in Worcestershire’s innings defeat of Hampshire, picking up his first five-wicket haul since February.
“He’s been a great asset for Pakistan and is doing well in the county season and bowling really well with his new action,” PakPassion.net, quoted Rasheed as saying on Sunday.
He further said that they were in touch with him and added that the bowler was keeping them informed about his progress.
“He remains on the selectors’ radar and in the reckoning, especially since he has put in a lot of effort with his new action.”
Worcestershire’s bowling coach Matt Mason had earlier heaped praised on Ajmal, saying that the spinner had returned to his original best and would surely be winning the confidence of the selectors back home if he continued with that kind of performance. (APP)
