The unresolved murder of Tupac Shakur in 1996, which significantly impacted both many lives and the music industry, has taken a dramatic new twist with recent allegations involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The rapper turned business mogul, founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, is already embroiled in a separate ongoing investigation related to accusations of sexual abuse and trafficking.
Historically, the media has extensively covered Combs’ alleged ties to the violent East Coast-West Coast hip-hop rivalry during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Reports have frequently linked Combs and fellow rapper The Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace) to conflicts with Shakur. Combs has consistently denied any involvement, dismissing the allegations as entirely false.
Recently, further controversy has arisen following statements by Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former gang leader charged with Shakur’s murder. Davis has reportedly indicated to authorities that Combs paid $1 million for Shakur’s assassination.
Legal documents from July 18, released by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, clarify Davis’ claims: “Davis has publicly stated he only spoke of his actions and did not intend to implicate others in his discussions with police. However, he did suggest Combs financed the killing, paying (drug dealer) Eric Von Martin $1 million, and even proposed arranging a covert phone call with Terrence Brown, the driver at the time of the attack.”
As these allegations rekindle discussions about what might have truly happened, the pressure on Combs continues to mount amid his current legal troubles. Combs has yet to address these latest accusations publicly.
