Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, emphasized the urgency to address the growing backlog of cases in the Supreme Court. Speaking against the prevalent trend of seeking adjournments, he asserted that cases coming to the SC should complete all the paperwork. He highlighted the gravity of the situation by noting the high number of cases awaiting a hearing.
Institutional Reforms for Speedy Justice
To expedite the legal process, CJP Isa recently established a committee focusing on case management, which includes members from top bars, such as the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
This committee is tasked with establishing guidelines to handle the staggering 57,000 cases pending before the top court and ensuring a quick administration of justice. The Supreme Court has released weekly details of the cases filed and resolved to enhance transparency.
