On Friday, the PPP suspended Sardar Latif Khosa’s party membership and removed him from its central executive committee (CEC). This decision, confirmed by PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari, followed Khosa’s failure to respond to a show-cause notice from the party. The September 14 notice questioned Khosa for representing another political party’s leader, inferred as PTI Chairman Imran Khan, without the PPP’s prior approval.
In various cases, Khosa has previously acted as the PTI chief’s legal counsel. The PTI claims a diplomatic document missing from Khan’s possession contained threats from the U.S. to remove him from power. The show-cause notice also highlighted Khosa’s criticisms of the state policy in a lawyers’ event. Khosa had previously been cautioned for making a statement supporting the PTI chief.
