Sardar Latif Khosa, a notable leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), announced on Sunday that he is joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), following what he described as the “wish” of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan. Khosa emphasized that his decision was made in the country’s interest and democracy.
During a press conference in Lahore, Khosa expressed his hope for an end to the politics of hatred in the country. He stressed the importance of the Constitution as a foundational agreement for welfare states and noted that deviations from it have historically harmed both the state and the country.
Khosa asserted that adherence to the Constitution in its true spirit is key to the nation’s prosperity. He also mentioned the roles of Barrister Muhammad Iqbal and Barrister Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the formation of Pakistan, highlighting their legal backgrounds.
Political Shifts and Calls for Fair Judicial Treatment
Khosa called for an end to the “oppression” of Imran Khan and expressed his dedication to serving PTI. He refrained from discussing his losses or gains in the PPP. He also highlighted the expectation of Pakistan’s 250 million people for the judiciary to ensure a level playing field for all political parties ahead of the general elections on February 8 next year.
Khosa ‘s inclusion comes amid when top leaders of PTI moved out from the party, including Pervez Khattak and Asad Umar, parting ways with the party post-May 9 incidents. Khosa’s decision to join PTI was also influenced by his suspension from PPP in September over his defence of Khan without approval, marking a significant turn in his political career.
