Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has removed Sardar Latif Khosa from his position as president of the People’s Lawyer Forum (PLF). PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari has been given additional responsibility for the role.
Following his controversial comments about the coalition government, it has been reported that the PPP leadership was displeased with Khosa’s recent interviews and his critiques of the coalition government, particularly on the PML-N’s stance on judicial matters.
Khosa has been outspoken about the actions and policies of the coalition government, frequently offering subtle criticism under the guise of presenting facts. When the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led government proposed a bill to limit the chief justice’s powers, Khosa publicly voiced his disapproval.
He argued that the legislation related to the Supreme Court was akin to “silencing the judiciary.” While speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, the former governor questioned the timing of the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023.
In the controversy surrounding the Supreme Court’s March 1 ruling, Khosa stated that the opinions of members not on the bench could not be included in the decision. He also criticized Pakistan Muslim-League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, accusing her of attacking the judiciary.
