God of War Developer Sony Santa Monica Is Allegedly Developing a New IP.

Santa Monica Studio, known for developing “God of War,” is reportedly crafting a new intellectual property (IP).

Since releasing “God of War Ragnarök” in 2022, the Sony-owned studio has not disclosed details of its forthcoming projects. However, a Santa Monica employee’s LinkedIn profile suggested that the studio is developing a new IP, although the current description now indicates an unannounced project without specifying the nature of the IP.

Glauco Longhi, the studio’s Character Supervisor, stated on LinkedIn that he oversaw this new endeavour’s character development pipeline. He expressed enthusiasm about rejoining the team and advancing character creation in video games.

Longhi, who has previously worked with other prominent studios like Naughty Dog and Unknown Worlds Entertainment, returned to Santa Monica Studio in April, embarking on this undisclosed project.

While Santa Monica has not officially confirmed its next project, creative director Cory Barlog has hinted at ongoing developments, including possible continuations of the “God of War” series and other new titles.

A developer at Santa Monica Studios posted on LinkedIn, saying they’ve been “looking after the entire character development pipeline on their new IP,” suggesting the God of War team is working on their first new IP in 20 years.

Despite these speculations, neither Santa Monica nor Sony has confirmed a specific launch timeline for the studio’s next game. Additionally, the studio has continued to support “God of War Ragnarök” with new content, releasing the Valhalla DLC in 2023.
