Pakistan women’s captain and allrounder Sana Mir on Wednesday became the first Pakistani woman cricketer to achieve 100 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODI).

Sana got her 100th wicket in  the Women’s World Cup qualifier against Bangladesh being played in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The 31-year-old is now the 15th player overall to reach the 100-wicket landmark, and just the sixth woman to complete the double of taking 100 wickets and scoring 1,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Sana secured two wickets giving away just 19 runs in her ten over spell.

Pakistan elected to bat first in the match and made 227 in their allotted 50 overs. Bismah Maroof scored 35 off 52 balls, and also became the first from her country to reach 2,000 ODI runs.

Openers Ayesha Zafar and Nahida Khan scored 34 and 28 respectively. There were also valuable contributions from Rabiya Shah (34) and Aliya Riaz (31).

Sana could only score three runs in six balls before being dismissed by Bangladesh’s Salma Khatun. Bangladesh captain Rumana Ahmed secured figures of 3-40 in her 10 overs.

Bangladesh women were restricted to 160 in 49.3 overs. The highest run-scorers were Nigar Sultana (42) and Sanjida Islam (37).

Ghulam Fatima grabbed 3-28 in 9.3 overs, while Nashra Sandhu secured two wickets for 27 runs. Aiman Anwar and Javeria Khan also secured one wickets each.
