Renowned motivational speaker Sahil Adeem is again at the centre of controversy due to his contentious remarks.
Lawyer Fatah Chandio has initiated legal proceedings against Adeem, accusing him of disparaging the Sindhi community.
Chandio claims that in a video, Adeem suggested that instead of focusing on “Ghazwa-e-Hind,” a “Ghazwa-e-Sindh” should be conducted, using terms that denigrated the Sindhi community. Furthermore, Adeem purportedly demeaned Sindhis by stating they treat their daughters as commodities to be gifted to landlords, and he unfavourably compared them to Hindus. The filed FIR accuses Adeem of employing offensive language and disparaging the Sindhi people. Chandio received the controversial video via WhatsApp from another lawyer.
History of Controversies
This is not the first time Adeem has faced public scrutiny. He previously sparked outrage by describing 95% of Pakistani women as ignorant during a private television broadcast. This led Marvi Faseeh, a member of the Sindh Assembly, to introduce a motion condemning Adeem’s statements as violations of religious, societal, and legal norms, significantly distressing many women. The motion calls for severe legal measures against him.
In his defence, Adeem clarified that his comments regarding the ignorance of women were made in a religious context on a television show and that he did not expect the video to go viral. He stated this during an end-of-June appearance on Ayesha Jehanzeb’s program on Sama TV, where he claimed that 95% of women and only 25% of men in Pakistan are ignorant.
This situation underscores the ongoing tensions surrounding Adeem’s public statements and interactions with the media.
