Sahibzada Hamid Raza resigned as Information Secretary of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) on September 23, 2025. The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) leader cited his inability to perform duties due to ongoing court cases and imprisonment. However, TTAP rejected the resignation, as stated on their official X account.
Raza expressed frustration over alleged trolling from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media activists. This occurred after he declined to join the September 20 “Mission Nor” protest. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clarified that no official call was made for the protest and attributed it to an unknown source. Despite this, some TTAP leaders, including Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, participated by reciting “Azaan.”

TTAP spokesman Akhunzada Hussain confirmed that Raza submitted his resignation days earlier. However, the leadership refused it. He emphasised that the Sunni Ittehad Council remains a committed ally of TTAP. A summit meeting is planned to decide the final course of action. Raza reaffirmed his support for Imran Khan.
A senior PTI leader questioned the basis of the trolling. He pointed out that PTI had not issued the call for the protest. Consultations are ongoing to address concerns and maintain the alliance’s integrity.
Previously, in July 2025, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified nine PTI lawmakers, including Raza, due to convictions in the May 9 case. Raza was sentenced to 10 years by the Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court. This disqualified him under Article 63(1)(h) for offences involving moral turpitude.
