Saeed Sheikh, President of the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association, has received the prestigious One World Award 2024 for his philanthropic efforts and leadership excellence.
Sheikh is the first Pakistani-American and South Asian to be honoured with this award.
Susan Young, President of the Sister City Associations, presented the award to Sheikh during the annual One World Concert held at St. Thomas University in Houston.
Diplomats, including Congressman Al Green and prominent businessman Syed Javed Anwar, attended the ceremony and congratulated Sheikh on his achievement.
Congressman Al Green also awarded Sheikh a Congressional Certificate of Recognition at the event, applauding his commendable services.
Sheikh has earned multiple accolades, including the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, for his significant community contributions.
In his tribute, Congressman Green described Sheikh as an angel in human form, tirelessly committed to humanitarian causes.
He highlighted Sheikh’s ongoing ties to his Pakistani origins, emphasizing his connection to his homeland, faith, language, and culture.
Green noted America’s commitment to unity, irrespective of race or colour.
Upon accepting the award, Sheikh expressed his deep gratitude and reaffirmed his dedication to humanitarian service, stating that the award greatly honours him and fuels his passion.
