Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has publicly responded to the police uniform controversy after a petition was filed in Lahore seeking to file a criminal case against her.
In an Instagram story, Qamar shared a screenshot of a news report about the petition. She also posted a copy of an official request letter to counter the allegations.
The actress released a letter dated September 31, 2021, addressed to the Deputy Inspector General (Operations), Lahore. In the document, she requested permission to purchase and use a police uniform for a DGPR Punjab project. According to the letter, the project aimed to promote a positive image of Pakistan.
Alongside the documents, Qamar dismissed the petition as an attempt to gain attention by exploiting her public profile. She urged critics to “look elsewhere for publicity” and stressed that her success came through consistent hard work.

The petition was filed before a Lahore sessions court. It claimed that Qamar appeared in a video wearing a Punjab Police uniform without prior approval. The petitioner argued that this act violated rules governing the use of official uniforms.
Additional Sessions Judge Ilyas Rehan heard the initial arguments. Petitioner Wasim Zawar told the court that the actress appeared in police attire with an SP rank badge in a video circulating on social media. He maintained that wearing a police uniform requires a formal no-objection certificate from police authorities.
The petitioner also informed the court that he had previously approached the Old Anarkali police station to register a case, but the officials did not take any action.
After reviewing the preliminary submissions, the court adjourned the hearing until January 14. The case will resume after further examination of the claims and supporting evidence. Qamar’s public response and shared documentation have added a new dimension to the controversy, shifting focus toward whether official permission had already been sought and granted.
