As the highly-awaited Met Gala 2023 approaches, Rihanna shared captivating photos of herself donning vintage Chanel on her Instagram.
The expecting singer, pregnant with her second child with A$AP Rocky, was radiant in a white, furry Coperni micro-dress that accentuated her growing baby bump.
Rihanna complemented the dress with a cropped jacket from Chanel’s archives, originally part of the brand’s Fall 1994 ready-to-wear collection, featuring black faux fur with contrasting white accents.
The photos on her Instagram showcased Rihanna posing in front of a mirror, wearing a coordinating black-and-white Benny Andallo faux fur hat and Chanel-branded eyewear.
The striking outfit was chosen to honor the Met Gala 2023 theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” a tribute to the late designer who worked for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, and his label.
The Met Gala is among the most prominent fashion events of the year. In addition, she serves as an invitation-only fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Traditionally taking place on the first Monday of May, this year’s event will be co-hosted by La La Anthony, Derek Blasberg, Chloe Fineman, and Emma Chamberlain, with Vogue’s website live streaming the red carpet.
Kim Kardashian and likely one of her sisters, possibly Kendall Jenner, are expected to attend the Met Gala, though the guest list is usually kept under wraps. However, Met Gala regular Blake Lively will not be in attendance this year. Additionally, actor Jonathan Majors has been removed from the event due to domestic violence allegations.
Choupette, Lagerfeld’s cherished cat, has also been invited to the event. The cat’s agent stated, “It is a celebration of Karl’s legacy, and Choupette is a central figure in that legacy.”
