In a distressing event, an upset motorcyclist affiliated with an online ride-hailing service ignited his motorcycle in a protest against alleged police mistreatment, which took place outside the Karachi Press Club on Saturday night.
Narrating his traumatic experience, the motorcyclist, Hearson, mentioned that he had contacted the police helpline Madadgar-15 upon noticing some suspicious individuals near the Cantt Station. However, instead of assistance, he received a hostile response from the police, who arrived on the scene. Hearson recounted that the officers not only questioned the necessity of their presence but also allegedly assaulted him, accusing him of appearing intoxicated.
Following the incineration of what he described as his “source of income,” Hearson was detained by the police and transported to a station for further questioning.
In response to this alarming occurrence, SSP South initiated an investigation to ascertain the factual details of the incident, vowing to impose stringent penalties on those found to be at fault.
