British pop singer Kate Bush has become the first female singer to simultaneously have eight albums in the Official Albums Chart. She received an overwhelming response from her fans and critics who lauded her as she performed after 35 years as “spellbinding”.
Two of her albums, “The Whole Story” and “Hounds of Love” are in the top 10 at No 6 and No 9 respectively. According to the spokesperson for the Official Charts Company, six of the remaining ones have also made it to the top 40.
This record sets Bush few places after Elvis Presley with the highest number of albums (12) in the top 40 after he passed away in 1977; and The Beetles who bagged 11 entries in the top 40 with their album reissues in 2009.
Bush’s “Before The Dawn” tour sold more than 80,000 tickets within 15 minutes in March at the Hammersmith Apollo in west London, the same venue where she said goodbye to her musical career.
