The music community is mourning the loss of rapper and singer POORSTACY. Authorities in Boca Raton, Florida, reported his death on Monday, leaving fans and colleagues in shock.
POORSTACY, whose legal name was Carlito Junior Milfort, began his career at a very young age. He uploaded his early music to SoundCloud using several pseudonyms.
His major breakthrough arrived in March 2019 with the single “Make Up.” The track amassed 35,000 plays on SoundCloud in a single day. Later that year, he released his debut EP, “I Don’t Care,” through the prominent Internet Money label, with production by Nick Mira. This collaboration significantly boosted his profile.
Milfort’s career continued to ascend with the 10k Projects label, led by Elliot Grainge. Under this label, he released projects including “The Breakfast Club,” “Party at the Cemetery,” and additional EPs. On Monday, December 1, the Boca Raton Police Department confirmed Milfort’s death. Officials described it as occurring during an “incident” at an undisclosed location.

Authorities have not released an official cause of death. However, comments from fans on the artist’s social media accounts have suggested the possibility of suicide. The news deeply saddened fans, especially as Milfort remained active in his career. He released his latest single, “Nothing Belongs to You,” this past July.
According to industry reports, he was also collaborating with artist Paris Shadows on a track titled “Last Time Around.” Additional projects were reportedly in development at the time of his passing.
As authorities continue their investigation, fans and the music industry await further details on the passing of this rising talent in the alternative and rap scenes.
