On Tuesday, ex-interior minister Rana Sanaullah chastised Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti over statements about possibly arresting PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif. Referring to Sheikh Rashid’s current legal troubles, Sanaullah cautioned Bugti. He emphasized that the nation has faced the repercussions of conspiracies against Nawaz and reminded that public support and divine blessings are with the former prime minister.
Sanaullah denounced attempts to frame Nawaz with baseless charges and advised Bugti not to boost his profile by opposing Nawaz. He insisted that Nawaz has always respected the judiciary. PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, on X (previously Twitter), echoed Sanaullah’s sentiments, advising Bugti to focus on ensuring public security.
In response, Bugti clarified remarks he had made earlier in a media interview where he’d implied minimal force would be needed to arrest Nawaz. Bugti stated that his words were politically twisted. He assured that the caretaker government is impartial and said Nawaz’s return to politics is welcome. Nawaz, facing multiple legal issues, is expected back from the UK on October 21, having left for medical reasons in December 2019.
