In a recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka, commentator and former cricketer Ramiz Raja brought a unique flair to his commentary.

Drawing inspiration from Pakistani batter Iftikhar Ahmed, Raja used Ahmed’s distinctive phrase to commend Bangladesh wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim’s fielding performance. Ahmed used the phrase in a tweet praising teammate Fakhar Zaman’s batting against New Zealand at Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

“What a Wow” Moment in Commentary
Ramiz Raja adopted the catchy “What a wow” line to describe Rahim’s catch, which led to Kusal Perera’s dismissal of Shoriful Islam’s bowling. Raja’s humorous use of social media jargon not only added a fresh twist to cricket commentary but also left his co-commentator, Russel Arnold, amused.
