In the ninth iteration of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Quetta Gladiators achieved a five-wicket triumph against the Lahore Qalandars. Guided by Khawaja Nafay’s masterful unbeaten 60, the Gladiators successfully chased down a target of 188, securing their second win in succession. At the same time, concurrently, it marked the second consecutive defeat for the Qalandars.
Initially, Sahibzada Farhan’s crucial fifty and Jahandad Khan’s rapid innings lifted the defending champions to 187/7 following captain Shaheen Afridi’s decision to bat. The Lahore team stumbled early when Akeal Hosein ousted Fakhar Zaman for six, reducing them to nine early runs.
Rassie van der Dussen and Farhan’s 53-run partnership further established Quetta’s triumph, stabilising their innings until Abrar Ahmed terminated van der Dussen’s effort. Farhan’s alliance with Abdullah Shafique led to his successive fifty in the tournament, contributing a 43-ball 62 before Mohammad Hasnain dismissed him.
Shortly after, Hosein’s dismissal of Shafique intensified Lahore’s challenges. Nonetheless, Jahandad Khan’s dynamic 45 off 17 balls, alongside Sikandar Raza and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s efforts, propelled Lahore’s score.
