On August 19, 2025, renowned director Quentin Tarantino appeared on The Church of Tarantino podcast, discussing the cancellation of The Movie Critic, his career, and his top films.

The iconic filmmaker behind Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown shared insights into his most influential works: Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Tarantino’s Top Three Films

Tarantino highlighted three films that define his legacy:

  • Kill Bill: “The film I was born to make,” Tarantino said. Starring Uma Thurman, this action-packed revenge saga showcases his love for B-movies, blending martial arts, animation, and intense violence.
  • Inglourious Basterds: Described as his “masterpiece,” this World War II revenge thriller features Christoph Waltz and a dramatic shootout targeting Hitler.
  • Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: His favourite, this 2019 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie celebrates 1960s Hollywood with a nostalgic lens.

Tarantino emphasised his preference for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, telling Vanity Fair before its release, “If it’s really well received, maybe I won’t make it to 10. Maybe I’ll quit while I’m ahead.”

Quentin Tarantino lists the best films he has made:

• “‘Kill Bill’ is the movie I was born to make”
• “‘Inglourious Basterds’ is my masterpiece”
• “‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my fave”

Tarantino also addressed the cancellation of The Movie Critic, his planned tenth film, and reflected on his creative process. His candid remarks on the podcast reaffirmed his passion for storytelling and his unique cinematic style, which continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

Each film showcases Tarantino’s signature blend of sharp dialogue, bold visuals, and genre homage. Kill Bill revolutionised action cinema, Inglourious Basterds redefined historical drama, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood earned critical acclaim for its cultural commentary. These works solidify Tarantino’s status as a cinematic legend.

With The Movie Critic shelved, fans are eager for updates on Tarantino’s next project. His reflections on the podcast highlight his commitment to quality, leaving audiences anticipating whether he’ll retire after his tenth film or continue his storied career.
