A public poll launched by Rana Sikandar Hayat, Punjab’s Education Minister, shows strong support for extending winter vacations in schools across the province.
The minister shared the poll on his official Facebook page to gather public feedback on whether schools should reopen as scheduled or extend the holidays.
According to the results, 88% of participants supported extending winter vacations, while only 12% favored reopening schools on time.

In total, 42,256 people voted for an extension, compared to 6,457 voters who supported resuming classes as planned.
Officials confirmed that the Punjab government will review the poll results while making its final decision on school reopening. The education department has increasingly relied on public input to shape policy decisions, especially on matters affecting students and parents.
The poll results reflect growing concern about winter weather conditions and student well-being, which remain key factors in the final decision on school schedules.
The government is expected to announce its decision after evaluating weather forecasts, academic timelines, and public sentiment.
