Punjab Traffic Police issued over 841,000 driving licenses in November 2024, marking significant progress in the province’s licensing process.

The Punjab Traffic Police spokesperson reported the progress in license issuance throughout the province during the month. According to the report, over 841,000 driving licenses were issued, with more than 243,000 citizens obtaining learner driving licenses.

Additionally, 308,000 new driver’s licenses were issued during this period, and about 284,000 licenses were renewed, encompassing both learner and regular categories.

The report also mentioned that over 4,500 international driving licenses were issued to citizens. Licensing centres in major cities operated around the clock to accommodate increasing demand.

In a separate initiative, Punjab traffic police designated one day each week to issue driving licenses to rickshaw drivers. This decision followed a meeting between Additional IG Traffic and the Secretary of Transport. Under this new arrangement, a special driving test for rickshaw drivers will be held every Sunday at designated licensing centres across the province.

In 2023, Punjab set a new record by issuing over 10 million driving licenses. Former Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi celebrated the milestone by sharing the achievement on X (formerly Twitter) and praising the Punjab Police and PITB for reaching this significant target in record time.
