The Punjab Police has shared details of a sting operation to dismantle the international drug trafficking network known as the Jordan Gang.
The operation involved purchasing drugs worth millions of rupees to infiltrate and gather intelligence on the gang.
In an exclusive interview with BBC, CCPO Lahore Bilal Kamiyana outlined the two-phase strategy employed by the police. Initially, undercover officers bought approximately 15 million rupees worth of drugs locally from the gang, which allowed them to collect critical information such as the gang members’ phone numbers and bank account details.
In the second phase, the police used CCTV footage to monitor individuals booking the gang’s shipments with courier companies. This led them to three bungalows in DHA Phase 6, Lahore, identified as the gang’s base. A coordinated raid on these locations resulted in the seizure of drugs worth 250 million rupees and the arrest of six gang members.
Kamiyana also revealed that their agents posed as regular customers interested in international transactions, uncovering that the Jordan gang operates across several countries, including the USA, Mexico, Canada, Thailand, Dubai, and Vietnam, and imports narcotics into Pakistan. Efforts are underway, in collaboration with Thai authorities, to apprehend the fugitive leader of the gang, known as Jordan, who is currently believed to be in Thailand.
