The Punjab provincial government has decided to discontinue homeopathic medical services, terminating the positions of homeopathic doctors and staff associated with homeopathic medicine manufacturing.
The elimination of homeopathic doctors’ posts in government hospitals and hikmah positions signals the end of public sector homeopathic healthcare in the province.
The health department of Punjab clarified that this decision is intended to favor allopathic medicine, and all alternative treatment funds will now be solely redirected to allopathic treatment methods.
The head of the Homeopathic Alliance, Kashif Malik, expressed dismay over this decision. He urged the Punjab caretaker chief minister to rethink the decision and reinstate the seats for homeopathic doctors. Malik cautioned that a nationwide protest could be triggered if the positions are not reinstated.
This move to abolish homeopathic services in Punjab has led to discussions about the availability and accessibility of varied healthcare options. It has also stirred worries among homeopathic practitioners and patients considering homeopathy their preferred treatment mode.
