The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for Punjab as the region faces extreme heat.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) notes that hot and dry weather will likely continue across Punjab until Eid ul Adha, affecting major areas, including Lahore. Today, Lahore is expected to see temperatures ranging from a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius, with a possible rise to 46 degrees Celsius shortly.
Similarly, Sindh has experienced its hottest May on record, enduring prolonged heatwaves with temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius on consecutive days in various cities.
On May 26, the Mohenjo Daro weather station recorded a summer-high of 52.5°C. Jacobabad was not far behind, hitting 52 degrees Celsius. The intense heat also impacted lower Sindh, including Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin, where Hyderabad temperatures reached 48°C.
