Lahore: The Punjab provincial cabinet has paid rich tribute to martyred Home Minister Shuja Khanzada, who was assassinated in a suicide attack on Sunday.
A special meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, was held here on Monday. The meeting praised services of Shuja Khanzada and offered fateha for the departed soul.
It also adopted a resolution, condemning terrorism and expressing solidarity with martyred Khanzada.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif vowed to make Pakistan a peaceful country and reiterated that they would not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for its protection.
Shahbaz said he would lead from front the war against terror to eliminate menace of terrorism.
Two suicide attackers on Sunday killed Punjab Home Minister Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada, who had long campaigned against the militants, and at least 20 other people, after detonating a bomb at a meeting the minister was attending.
Khanzada, 71, had been holding a meeting with local people who had come to express their condolences on the death of his cousin. Khanzada used to visit his home every week to listen to the problems of the people of his constituency.
He was trapped with several others under the rubble after the blast brought down the roof of the building in the village of Shadi Khan in Attock district.
