The Punjab government announced the annual summer vacations for public and private schools on Friday.

The notification stated that vacations will be observed from June 1 to August 14.

The government has also reduced school timings due to the intense heat in multiple cities.

From Monday to Thursday, schools will open at 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and on Fridays, they will open at 7 a.m. and close at 10:30 a.m.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department warned of a high-pressure presence in the upper atmosphere.

From May 21, heatwave conditions are likely to develop over most parts of the country, especially in Punjab and Sindh.

They will likely convert to severe heatwave conditions from May 23 to 27.

Day temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6°C above normal in Punjab from May 21 to 23. They will rise to 6 to 8°C above normal from May 23 to 27.
