Under the leadership of Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises has approved a series of measures to enhance the performance of state institutions.
These measures include the digital expansion of Pakistan Television (PTV) and the removal of 1,232 obsolete positions within the broadcaster.
In a recent meeting, the committee sanctioned crucial initiatives to boost public sector enterprises’ profitability and operational efficiency. This included restructuring the Karachi Tools, Dies, and Mould Centre’s board and appointing Abdul Razak Gohar as the new chairman.
The committee also evaluated Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation’s (PBC) business strategies and established a goal to resolve its financial deficit within two years.
To streamline PTV’s operations, the committee supported the broadcaster’s digital expansion and the formation of lucrative partnerships.
Another critical resolution was the committee’s approval for the Ministry of Information to sell non-utilized assets to the private sector, underscoring the urgent implementation of institutional reforms and projects.
