PTI President Parvez Elahi will soon appear before a Gujranwala court as the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) gears up to present him. Elahi, transported from Lahore to the ACE’s Gujranwala regional office earlier today, will stand before Duty Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Afzal. The ACE plans to request Elahi’s physical remand during this session.
A non-bailable warrant for Elahi’s arrest was issued by an anti-corruption court special judge in Lahore, calling for Elahi’s appearance by June 2. Shortly after, the PTI President was re-apprehended concerning a corruption case filed against him in Gujranwala by ACE Punjab.
Elahi, a former Punjab chief minister, faces two cases in Gujranwala for alleged kickback receipts in contract awards. Another case against him has been lodged in Lahore.

Elahi was served two arrest warrants in quick succession. The first warrant was issued on May 25 following bail cancellation, and the second a day later.
In a recent development, ACE Gujranwala brought a case against Elahi in April, accusing him of accepting a Rs2 billion bribe for a development scheme contract. Another FIR charged him with accepting a Rs120 million bribe from a Turkish company, an international organization.
Elahi’s medical certificate was also declared fraudulent by the anti-corruption court judge, casting doubts on his claims of experiencing chest pain.
