President of the provincial ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Karachi have been defeated in the Local Government elections.
According to unofficial results, PPP Karachi chief Najmi Alam was beaten by Habib Memon who was the joint candidate of PTI and JI. Alam was contesting from UC-30, Clifton.
PTI Karachi President Ali Zaidi also suffered a defeat at the hands of Noshad Khan of MQM.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the JI Karachi chief, has also lost his seat in Nazimabad.
MQM leader Wasim Akhtar, who is one of the party’s candidates for mayor, has won.
