Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) geared up for a major protest rally scheduled for November 24 in the federal capital, following the directive of the incarcerated party founder, Imran Khan. Senior leaders were refining an effective strategy.
PTI will forcefully enter the federal capital from all sides next Sunday. In a social media message, Imran Khan stressed that participation in the protest would be crucial for determining the party’s membership continuity.
Bushra Bibi, who lives in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister House, played a key role in the preparations. On Sunday, she met with youth leaders and members of the Insaf Students Federation to convey Imran’s message.
Imran has marked November 24 as a decisive day, urging leaders to lead street caravans and document the activities.
Despite potential government crackdowns in Punjab and Islamabad, PTI leaders are resolute about reaching Islamabad. They have mobilized resources to ensure the protest’s success. Imran Khan has appointed Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, and Omar Ayub Khan as the rally’s focal persons.
The party launched extensive public outreach in Punjab, K-P, and Sindh. Workers conducted door-to-door campaigns at night to avoid arrests and used social media to amplify their message.
In Peshawar, Bibi convened meetings with party officials and firmly stated that there was no turning back until Imran’s release and labelled detractors within the party as unwelcome.
Also present at the meetings, K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur echoed the directives, instructing party members to converge on Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
The November 24 rally will address critical issues such as the 26th Constitutional Amendment, judicial independence, the restoration of PTI’s mandate, and the release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan.
Convoys from different provinces were assigned separate routes, and an indefinite sit-in at D Chowk was proposed. The K-P chief minister reportedly prepared a significant surprise for the federal government. In case of arrests, a secondary leadership would implement Plan B.
In a separate strategy session in Peshawar, a special youth force was formed to clear route obstacles and counteract police actions, with necessary support discussed by Chief Minister Gandapur, who declared this the final push until Imran Khan’s release from Adiala jail.
