Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the largest party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KPK) local bodies (LB) elections that were held on Saturday.
According to unofficial results of at least 398 district council seats and 288 tehsil council seats have been announced so far.
The PTI secured 110 district council and 91 tehsil council seats. The JI is closely on trail with 47 district council and 34 tehsil council seats.
The candidates hailing from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) succeeded in notching up 33 district council and ten tehsil council seats.
Awami National Party (ANP) could claim 42 district council and eight tehsil council seats.
By and large, the independent candidates emerged as a force to be reckoned with, as 23 district council and 16 tehsil council seats have gone to them
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) also secured 9 district council seats and 8 tehsil council seats.
All Pakistan Muslim League’s got 2 seats in District Council Chitral.
Qaumi Watan Party succeeded in getting one seat each in district council and tehsil council. PkMAP also bagged a seat in tehsil council.
The elections results are still being prepared.
