The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has initiated a comprehensive national movement to demand the release of its founder, Imran Khan, alleging his political victimization.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, PTI Chairman, spoke vehemently outside Adiala Jail, highlighting that the legal actions against Imran Khan, especially the Al-Qadir Trust Case, represent a deliberate attempt to confine him.
He revealed that a witness confirmed in court that Khan did not profit from or harm the public treasury through the project. Yet, Gohar underscored, such accusations aim to coerce Khan into concessions.
“Imran Khan’s message to the nation is a call to persist in their fight for authentic independence,” Barrister Gohar proclaimed.
As the by-elections near, PTI plans to organize major rallies nationwide to support the elections and call for Khan’s release. Gohar instructed party leaders to secure rally permits, stressing the importance of rallying public support.
Barrister Gohar shared Khan’s guidance regarding party strategy, including appointing Mian Aslam Iqbal as PTI’s Punjab Assembly Parliamentary Leader. The party also adjusted its Senate election nominations due to legal proceedings.
“PTI is ready for widespread engagement ahead of the by-elections,” Barrister Gohar declared, aiming to recover their “usurped mandate.”
PTI has named its candidates for the Senate elections, including Syed Zulfi Bukhari and Faizur Rehman for Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa seats, respectively. The party has called for other nominations to be withdrawn, favouring the covering candidates.
Barrister Gohar denounced threats by PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah against Khan, advocating for legal action against him.
Following a statement by US diplomat Donald Lu, PTI seeks explanations from ex-ambassador Asad Majeed on their interaction. Moreover, PTI demands prompt and fair adjudication for civilians awaiting military court verdicts, critiquing the courts’ opacity and bias.
