PTI Lahore lockdown launched with burning tyres

In a likely attempt to set the tone for Monday’s lockdown, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors late on Sunday night set tyres ablaze in the middle of a road blocking it for all kinds of traffic.

The burning blockade was laid out near Bhatta Chowk where a large number of anti-government slogan-shouting enthusiasts kicked off the daylong PTI protest in the heart of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s political stronghold.

“We are blasting off our protest right here right now as we want to send a message to the government that we are not afraid of its Draconian designs,” sources quoted a worker on the ground as saying.

Former cricket star Imran Khan led political party, which seeks ouster of the incumbent government claiming it rigged the polls to its way to power last year, will attempt to lock down the provincial capital of Punjab under its ‘Plan C’ on Monday.

It’s going to be a somewhat clash of titans as the government is adamant on dealing with all the pressure tactics of the PTI with an iron hand.

The PTI has planned to stage sit-ins at 18 different locations across the city.
